Day 7 – 24 November 2011 – Me and Sports

I love to play sports since young. The 1st sport that I tried will be cycling. From 4 wheels, to 3 and to 2 wheels bicycle. The experience and the process of learning was fun. The feeling of scare to fall down and the joyful feeling when you’re able to cycle is indescribable. The process of learning is fun.

The most ‘fearful’ sports will be roller blading. I just couldn’t slow down nor stop when I blade! Even till now! I still remember the last time I fell down, it hurts badly as I injured my back. However, it’s this feeling that motivated me to conquer roller blading! I’m still learning thou!

The last time I fail badly in a sport is scuba diving. I did bad (didn’t fail but not excel) in the theory exam for my open water course. I almost screwed up my practical open water as I lost my contact lens underwater and couldn’t see much in the water (my eye sight is bad, 800 degree per eye!). End up, I got scratches on my arm and legs because I scratched the coral and rocks underwater. I was kinda depressed and scare of it after my 1st dive trip but after days of thinking, I told myself that I must conquer it! They can do it, so do I!

So I decided to take up Advance Open Water Course at Pulau Redang, Malaysia with Faz. We went there with the instructor and 1 of our dive friend. I got my advance open water cert and I saw my first white tip shark underwater!! Just 10m away from me!! It’s so so so excited and no, white tip shark is friendly =)

After the Advance Open Water trip, I decided to do more trip to improve my scuba diving skill. I took up Nitrox course, Emergency First Response and Rescue Diver Course. My diving skill improved and my instructor was so amazed that I did very well in my theory and practical course. I am so proud of myself that I am able to dive freely and able to dive without guardian of the instructor (of course, it’s not advisable to dive alone!).

As years go by, the type of sports I anticipate changed. From land to underwater, from cycle to paddle. But I don’t have the chance to dive as often due to work and studies. Hence I had decided to go back jogging and cycling after exam ends.

Sports motivated me in my way of life and we should enjoy it while we can!
